Home/Backhoe Services

Construction and renovation work-sites are common throughout Southern California. Frequently, these sites generate large amounts of waste in the form of dirt, gravel, rocks or larger pieces of stone. In addition, projects of all sizes often call for the use of the same types of materials during the building or remodeling process. The removal and onsite transport of dirt or other super-heavy materials typically calls for the use of a backhoe, or a larger tractor equipped with a front end loader. In order to save time or money, builders and renovators sometimes call on untrained personnel to operate these machines. However, such a decision can easily lead to serious problems, including disorganized worksites and increased risks for job-related injuries. Instead of taking an unnecessary risk, leave your job site hauling needs in the hands of the skilled professionals at Accu-Cut Concrete Cutting and Breaking.

A backhoe is a tractor equipped with a rear-mounted unit (the backhoe) that consists of three linked components known as the bucket, stick and boom. Together, these three components work together in a coordinated manner like your hand, forearm and upper arm. Models known as backhoe loaders also feature a forward-facing front end loader. A pair of stabilizing legs mounted behind the rear wheels hold the tractor firmly in place when the backhoe is in use. You can replace the bucket on a backhoe with other attachments, including a hydraulic tool specifically designed to break up concrete and other hardened materials.

The backhoe is considered the main working end of this piece of machinery, although the front end loader can also accomplish a number of important tasks. In fact, the classic use for a backhoe loader is digging a trench with the rear-mounted bucket and then using the loader end to backfill that trench. In the context of excavating and hauling dirt and other heavy materials around a construction site, a backhoe provides several unique advantages. For example, the relatively small size of these machines makes it possible to maneuver them easily on most sites, even in tight spaces. The loader on a typical backhoe can hold thousands of pounds of material at one time, and the bucket can also hold large amounts of material. A machine equipped with a breaker can cut through concrete like a jackhammer.

A front end loader tractor is a piece of heavy machinery designed to haul or push large volumes of material at once. It features a front-mounted bucket that can be angled during use to accomplish both of these tasks. The bucket also rises on its two arms to lift and dump material into piles or onto a dump truck or other vehicle. Many front end loaders run on treads similar to those found on a tank. However, others come equipped with wheels. A small type of loader, known as a skid-steer loader, can turn sharply by locking the wheels on one side and using a controlled skid to pivot the position of the wheels on the other side. It provides a much greater degree of maneuverability than full-size loaders and can be used in very tight spaces.

There are many uses for a front end loader on a construction site or other jobsite. For example, you can use this type of tractor to haul large quantities of dirt, gravel, concrete rubble or other heavy materials to and from a temporary, onsite storage location. You can also push these materials between locations or load them on a truck for removal. Front end loaders commonly play a role in excavation projects. In the hands of a skilled operator, a skid-steer loader can haul material from small or narrow spaces that won’t permit the use of a full-size loader or any other type of heavy machinery.

Backhoes and front end loaders are relatively straightforward machines, and you can learn the basics of their use in a short amount of time. For this reason, some builders and project managers choose to leave the onsite operation of these machines to general contractors or other minimally trained personnel. However, you take some big chances whenever you fail to hire professional operators for worksite use of backhoes and front end loaders.

First and foremost, it actually takes a great deal of skill to safely maneuver any kind of heavy machinery around a job site. Unless your operators have the required training and real-world experience, they could easily get involved in accidents that lead to serious injuries, structural damage and/or equipment damage. In addition, anyone who accidents that lead to serious injuries, structural damage and/or equipment damage. In addition, anyone who performs demolition hauling on a California job site must follow stringent state laws, as well as guidelines from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Failure to follow all applicable rules and regulations can lead to significant or even severe fines, especially if such a failure leads to workplace injuries.
