Performed on horizontal surfaces, concrete cutting is the modern alternative to the loud and inaccurate jackhammer. It relies on the use of a device called a slab saw or flat saw. This device uses a thin, rapidly rotating blade equipped with diamond-edged teeth to create highly accurate cuts in concrete, reinforced concrete and various forms of masonry. In large, open areas, cutting is performed with relatively large, floor-mounted flat saws. Smaller and/or tighter spaces typically call for the use of a smaller, more maneuverable hand-held flat saw. Common reasons for concrete cutting include creation of utility trenches, the need to reach existing utilities for repairs or replacements, and removal of damaged concrete/masonry.
Safe, accurate operation of a flat saw can only be reliably achieved by a well-trained professional. At Accu-Cut, all of our flat saw operators are concrete cutting experts familiar working on all manner of projects in every conceivable jobsite environment.
