Before you take a jackhammer to a concrete floor, consider the more refined approach of concrete cutting. This new and improved way of dealing with concrete involves using innovative technology. Slab saws or flat saws produce much better, and more accurate results than hacking away at concrete with a jackhammer. These specialized saws make use of a thin, rapidly rotating blade featuring industrial diamond-edged teeth, making them strong enough to cut through concrete, reinforced concrete and other masonry materials. Often, floor-mounted flat saws are used for making large cuts in open areas. However, in smaller areas such as corners, hand-held flat saws may be used as they allow for greater flexibility.
Concrete cutting is commonly used to access utility wires and pipelines underground or to install these same items. Another purpose is to remove damaged concrete and masonry in the flooring or bottoms of walls.
